Beat flu and USC

FIGHT FLU AND USC!

This year, Clemson and the University of South Carolina are competing to see who can get the most flu vaccines! All Clemson students and employees can participate. If you get your flu shot at Redfern, your vaccine will already be counted toward Clemson’s flu shot numbers. If you get your vaccine off campus, just go to bit.ly/AFNationalFluChallenge18 to self-report your vaccine via the National College Flu Vaccination Survey. If we all go all in, we can beat the flu and USC!

VACCINE AT REDFERN

Student Health Services offers the quadrivalent seasonal flu vaccine at Redfern Health Center. Flu Vaccine Clinics are held every Wednesday at Redfern Health Center, no appointment necessary. Walk in between 9:30–11 a.m. and 1:30–4:15 p.m. to get the flu vaccine.

You can also walk in and get the flu vaccine through the Nurse’s Clinic on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30–11 a.m. and 1:30–4:15 p.m.

COST AND INSURANCE COVERAGE

The vaccine is $30 at Redfern. Student Health Services now courtesy files as an out-of-network provider for most insurance companies. If you want your flu vaccine billed to your insurance, please upload your insurance card in MyHealth-e and provide your primary policy holder/guarantor information. The Clemson University Student Health Insurance Plan provides 100% coverage for the flu shot and other preventative services when service is provided through Student Health Services or any Preferred Provider

WHY GET A FLU SHOT?

Influenza is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness. Every flu season is different, and influenza infection can affect people differently. Even healthy people can get very sick from the flu and spread it to others. An annual seasonal flu vaccine is the BEST WAY to reduce the chances that you will get seasonal flu and spread it to others. When more people get vaccinated against the flu, less flu can spread through the community. After you get the vaccine, it takes a couple of weeks to build up immunity against flu viruses, so act now to get vaccinated!
